Personal Response 5: Earthquakes

Hello everyone. Today I am going to talk about 'Earthquakes'.
Earthquakes can cause people to lose their homes, falling buildings, vehicles or trains and more.

People can protect themselves by hiding under a thick carpet, a huge table with good qualities, under a hard things and more.

I think that scientists can detect earthquakes. They use a machine to detect earthquakes. The name of the machine is called Seismograms.

Earthquakes occured in the recent China, Sichuan Earthquake, Japan, The United States Of America, Europe and more.

I think these countries have earthquakes because earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don't just slide smoothly; the rocks catch on each other. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that's built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs. During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus (on top of the ground) is called the epicenter of the earthquake.

I think sooner or later, Singapore will have an earthquake as most of the countries already had earthquakes and I also think that the earth is going to end soon because people have been burning things(I saw Indoneisia from my house and then i saw that there is fire there and there is alot of black(dirty) smoke rising up to the sky) , braking styrofoams, wasting resources, and many other more that can cause the ozone layer that protects the earth to be bigger and it will soon have a hole. By the way, it already have a very big hole.And I think that the earth is going to end very soon-20 more years?

Reflection 5: Mother's Day

HELLO! Today I am going to talk about Mother's Day.♥

♥I think that Mother's Day is a very important date as all our mothers have taken such good care of us in the past few years.

♥My sisters and I shared money and bought her a bouquet of flowers! I also drew a Happy Mother's Day card at home. (Not drawn at school.)

♥My relationship to my mother is very close because she always help me with my homework and tuition work and always cook and help to do the house chores.(With some help from my family and me.) She sometimes also help me with my Art & Craft like a little bit of colouring.

Also, to strenghten my relationship to my mother, I can also help her with the household chores in order to not makeing her angry and make her happy.

♥I also think that mothers are important in children's life because they encourage us and cheer us up if we have some kind of problems and when we are sad. They also can help us in our homework when we have some difficulties in our homework.

♥If there is one special thing that i can do for my mother, I would help her to do all the chores and let her rest.I can also not telling her how to do my homework and let her sleep early as she always sleeps late.

Personal Response 4: Child Safety Belt in School Buses

Hello. Today i am going to talk about Child Safety Belt in school buses.

Everyday, I walk to school by myself. I think that some of the children in the school bus talk and play noisily. However, some of them just sit by one side and just mind their own business as I never sit school buses home and to school. I agree with Ms Karen Koh that safety belt should be installed in school buses because when children that are taking the school bus, they can put on the safety belts or the bus auntie or the bus uncle can tell them to put their seat belts. I do not agree with Mr Leow Beng Kiong's view that installing seat belts are not only costly but also unnecessary as the children on the bus for only about 15 minutes because if some of the children stay very far away from the school like Jurong East, they will not be on the bus for only about 15 minutes. But if some children stays very near from the school, the bus would take for about 5 minutes, but if there are a bus accident between 15 minutes and the children is standing and walking around the bus, and when the school bus jerk, the child would fall and hurt himself or herself. But especially boys, because they will be more playful. The children should tell each other to sit down and put their safety belt and not to play. The bus attendants also can tell the children to sit still and make sure the children should behave themselves and not to play around. The school can help by the teachers, discipline masters, vice-principals and principals to tell the children in the school to behave themselves in the bus and not to walk around but to sit still.
